Cast in silver from a natural whelk shell using silver metal clay
Each shell is approximately just under 1cm x 0.5 cm
The studs have sterling silver earring scrolls/butterfly backs.
One pair available then they will be made to order.
Silver metal clay is made from fine particles of metal, mixed with organic binders and water.
Firstly I made a mold of the whelk then the clay was pressed into the mold. It is then left to dry then fired to burn off the binder which leaves a solid silver whelk.
